Shopping @ Manhattan Harbour

The buzz word these days is Lifestyle Center - or a retail area that focuses on the experience. Lifestyle centers are also called outdoor malls or "focused, boutique" malls.

The Streets at Southpoint in Durham, NC have an interesting concept where the outdoor lifestyle center leads into an indoor covered shopping area. The vaulted ceilings and design of the indoor area has a very open feel, and together with the heat lamps (like they have in The Grove in Los Angeles) it could make the entire shopping area more versatile during the cold months.

Here are a few examples of what we're thinking about at Manhattan Harbour. We'd love to hear your ideas, share them with us by posting the links or the pictures in the comments below.

Technology in Manhattan Harbour - Interactive displays.

"The Wall" in Helsinki. Its a touchscreen display that allows users to learn more about the area and also send images home, among other things.

We could use this technology in Manhattan Harbour much in the same way Harrah's has started to use it in Rio: Find restaurants and make reservations, find drink specials, book a boat for the day, book a hotel room, reserve a private car to the game, find out ferry times, and more.

Harrah's Entertainment usage of interactive touch screens

In retail, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger have started to use interactive touch screens in their retail locations. It allows window shoppers to interact with the display window and see if particular items are in stock or browse store inventory.

Restaurants and bars?

Which restaurants and bars would you like to see over in Manhattan Harbour? We're all about food and drink.

Manhattan Harbour Hotel

We've always wanted to have some drinks on a rooftop bar along the Ohio river. We're thinking some of these bars would be great to go along with the views of the river and downtown Cinci 15 stories up.

Welcome to the Manhattan Harbour blog of the Manhattan Harbour Development team. We are exploring different web 2.0 platforms to reach out to the community (Dave Imboden doesn't even carry a cell phone, but we'll get him to make a post. Never too late to teach an old dog new tricks.), please bear with us, and give us any suggestions you can. Check us out on Facebook and Twitter.
